About The Role
Job Purpose: To oversee all of BrewDog’s Quality Assurance systems and processes to ensure compliance to food safety standards per the regulatory requirements of the certified Food Safety Management system. Through managing the Quality Assurance Team, the Quality Technical Manager oversees Food Safety and HACCP, Labelling and Regulatory compliance, Customer and Supplier Technical liaison, Threat and Vulnerability defence of the business and the Environmental Management System.
Key Result Area / Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Strategic management of the Quality Assurance department.
- Ensuring Food Safety Management System (FSMS) is in place to ensure the products produced meet customers and legal requirements.
- Ensure that FSSC22000 certification is maintained and challenged.
- Oversee and maintain HACCP, TACCP and VACCP plans and documentation.
- Oversee customer complaints and non-conformances, including defining responses and follow up.
- Monitor and trend business KPIs in relation to Food Safety and Quality Assurance.
- Lead technical site audits including Certification audits as well as regulatory bodies inspections.
- Manage supplier audit programme.
- Manage supplier approval processes.
- Oversee internal audits plan including site improvement initiatives.
- Oversee legal and labelling matters and artwork sign off process.
- Environmental Management System (EMS) oversight and development.
- Provide leadership and guidance to team members in relation to the FSMS.
- Develop and facilitate global quality assurance and food safety best practice.
Key Relationships - Internal & External:
- Internal: Quality team, Production teams, Health & Safety team, Facilities team, Supply Chain, Customer service, Marketing team.
- External: Certification body (FSSC), EMS consultants, Suppliers & contractors, Customers, Campden BRI and external laboratories.
Health & Safety: Ensure that Health and Safety guidelines and fire regulations are strictly adhered to at all times. Comply with safe working practices as defined by BrewDog. Report any accidents, incidents or near misses as soon as reasonably practicable.
General: Be aware of and adhere to BrewDog policies and the Workplace Code at all times. Take part in crew reviews throughout the year. Cooperate with other BrewDog departments to achieve a great experience for our customers, applicants, colleagues, and contractors. Attend training courses and complete online training modules as required to meet the requirements of the role. Take responsibility for own personal development, seeking out opportunities to learn new skills.
About You
Qualifications & Specific Training: Degree level (or higher) in Science/Quality related field. Detailed knowledge of regulatory aspects of Food Safety. Knowledge of FSSC 22000 requirements relevant to responsibilities. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Processes. Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices; and analytical and microbiological analysis. Internal auditor of QMS or FSMS system. HACCP training (Intermediate or equivalent or higher).
Experience: Significant experience in working with regulatory aspects of food safety management systems. Significant and proven track record in managing Quality Assurance schemes. Significant experience working with artwork and regulations of new and existing product development. Substantial experience of working in a manufacturing environment. Significant experience of working within a quality team. Significant experience in developing teams and operational excellence programmes.
Knowledge: Quality Assurance and Quality Control, Food safety regulations, Artwork approval processes, Understanding of FSSC 22000, Understanding of HACCP, TACCP, VACCP.
