About The Role

The Health & Safety Advisor supports the safe and efficient operation of their areas of responsibility. Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager and operational teams, they help ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, promote a strong safety culture, and provide day-to-day guidance on health and safety matters across multiple sites.

Key Result Area / Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site health and safety support, ensuring safe working practices are followed across all operations.
  • Carry out regular inspections and audits to identify hazards, unsafe behaviours, and improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in developing and reviewing risk assessments, safe systems of work (SSOW), and method statements.
  • Monitor the use and maintenance of PPE, guards, signage, and emergency equipment.
  • Support safe management of contractors and ensure permit-to-work systems are applied correctly.
  • Record, investigate, and report all accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Keep accurate records and help produce reports and statistics for management review.
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
  • Support training on topics such as manual handling, chemical handling (COSHH), confined spaces, and machinery safety.
  • Promote employee engagement in safety initiatives and encourage reporting of hazards or unsafe acts.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety legislation (PUWER, COSHH, RIDDOR, etc.) and internal policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date safety documentation, inspection records, and training matrices.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits across all locations.
  • Assist in implementing audit findings and tracking action completion.
  • Work closely with operational teams to integrate safety into daily operations.
  • Support the Health & Safety Manager in rolling out company-wide safety programmes and initiatives.
  • Liaise with external contractors, auditors, and enforcement bodies when required.
  • Foster a positive safety culture through engagement, training, and communication across all departments.

Health & Safety:

  • Ensure that Health and Safety guidelines and fire regulations are strictly adhered to at all times.
  • Comply with safe working practices as defined by BrewDog.
  • Complete online or face-to-face training as and when required.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by acts or omissions at work.
  • Report any accidents, incidents or near misses as soon as reasonably practicable.

General:

  • Be aware of and adhere to BrewDog policies and the Workplace Code at all times.
  • Take part in crew reviews throughout the year.
  • Cooperate with other BrewDog departments to achieve a great experience for our customers, applicants, colleagues, and contractors.
  • Attend training courses and complete online training modules as required to meet the requirements of the role.
  • Take responsibility for own personal development, seeking out opportunities to learn new skills.
  • Undertake any other duties as requested which are reasonably deemed to be within the scope of the role or necessary for the smooth running of the business.
  • Apply the BrewDog charter and behaviours to every aspect of the role at all times.
  • Protect and enhance the interests and reputation of BrewDog internally and externally.

About You

Qualifications & Specific Training:

  • Recognised qualification in Health & Safety (i.e. NEBOSH; IOSH) NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) or willingness to work towards.

Experience:

  • Preferably experience in a hands-on health and safety role, ideally within manufacturing, food & beverage, or brewing environments.
  • Brewing or food production experience.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of health and safety legislation and practical application.
  • Confident in conducting inspections, investigations, and delivering training.
  • First Aid trained.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, listening, influencer and negotiator).
  • Good IT and record-keeping skills.
  • Workplace application of accident and incident investigation, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Ability to effectively coach and mentor teams and individual crew members on Health & Safety.
