Join BrewDog as a Compliance & Reliability Engineer to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of production equipment across BrewDog sites in Ellon.
Job Purpose
The Compliance & Reliability Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing robust maintenance strategies, optimising asset performance, and ensuring compliance with statutory and quality regulations.
Key Result Area / Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with legislation & HSEQ (ATEX, DSEAR, PUWER, LOLER, PSSR, etc.) and site HSEQ policies.
- Maintain adherence to food safety regulations and internal quality standards, preventing contamination.
- Lead or participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment failures.
- Develop and manage reliability improvement programs to maximise OEE and throughput.
- Plan and oversee overhauls at optimal frequencies to minimise disruption.
- Analyse maintenance reports, spare parts usage, and performance data to optimise routines and reduce downtime.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean manufacturing and TPM.
- Provide technical guidance and training support for maintenance staff.
- Stand in for Engineering & Maintenance Manager when required.
Key Relationships
HSE Team, Production Team, Finance Team, People Team, Distillery Operations Team and 3rd parties.

About You
Qualifications & Specific Training
- SVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Professional certifications in maintenance management, health and safety, or food safety (NEBOSH, IOSH, etc.).
- Relevant certifications in electrical, mechanical, or automation disciplines.
Experience
- Proven experience in maintenance engineering within food & beverage or FMCG.
- Experience developing and implementing PPM strategies.
- Hands‑on experience in planning and executing equipment overhauls and major repairs.
- Familiarity with FMEA and RCA.
- Track record applying TPM and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience managing spare parts inventory and CMMS.
- Experience delivering compliance to legal frameworks in regulated manufacturing.
Knowledge
- Understanding of compliance requirements and maintenance methodologies (RCM, CBM, etc.).
- Knowledge of HSEQ policies and regulations.
- Understanding of industrial equipment failure modes and risk management.
- Familiarity with automation & control systems in manufacturing.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for reliability optimisation.
