SUMMARY / SCOPE / GOAL

Works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and school personnel to identify, evaluate, and provide therapy services to students whose speech and/or language impairments adversely impact their ability to perform and/or function in the typical learning environment.

Education and Relevant Experience Requirements

  • Required: MA/MS or higher with a graduate major in Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited educational institution and eligible for DOE certification or DOH License.
  • BA/BA in Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited educational institution and must be enrolled in graduate-level coursework prior to expiration of temporary DOE certification.
  • Preferred / Desired: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training may be required by assignment.

Certifications / Licenses / Training

  • Required: Eligibility for certification from the Florida Department of Education in Speech-Language Impaired and/or Licensure from the Florida Department of Health in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • Preferred / Desired: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
