About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the operational team at our Newhaven Wharf.
Reporting to the Wharf Manager, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient processing of marine dredged aggregates into high-quality products for our customers.
This hands-on role involves operating both mobile and fixed plant, managing the movement of materials across the site, and loading road and rail transport to ensure excellent customer service is maintained.
You will also contribute to the ongoing development of the wharf by working collaboratively with colleagues to identify improvements and support operational excellence.
About Your Role
- Operate mobile and fixed plant safely and efficiently in accordance with company procedures.
- Process marine dredged aggregates into saleable products.
- Load customer vehicles and rail wagons in a safe and timely manner.
- Carry out routine inspections, safety checks and basic maintenance activities.
- Report all accidents, incidents, hazards and near misses promptly.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and stockpile management across the site.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure compliance with SHEQ policies and procedures.
- Support customers collecting materials from the wharf, providing a professional and efficient service.
- Assist with site improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- We’re Looking For
- You will be a proactive team player with a strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
- Loading shovel competency and/or a recognised Loading Shovel Licence.
- A Level 2 NVQ in Plant Operations, or be willing to work towards achieving this qualification.
- Experience operating mobile plant within a quarry, wharf, recycling or similar heavy industrial environment.
- Good mechanical awareness and an understanding of fixed and mobile plant operations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A flexible approach to working hours and operational requirements.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to identify practical solutions.
- An understanding of aggregate processing, particularly within a marine aggregates environment, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
