About The Role

Brett Aggregates are the UK's largest independent supplier of aggregates.

As part of our continued growth across the South Coast, we have recently opened a new railhead facility in Chichester.

We are now looking for a Site Supervisor to join our team and play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the site.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of aggregates using heavy plant equipment, including the discharge of materials from freight trains, management of stockpiles, and loading customer vehicles.

You will also oversee rail deliveries, carry out quality checks, complete operational documentation, and support the smooth running of the site to ensure high standards of safety, service and operational performance are maintained at all times.

About Your Role

  • Take ownership of health, safety and environmental compliance on site, ensuring a safe working environment for colleagues, contractors and visitors.
  • Oversee the receipt and discharge of aggregate deliveries by rail, ensuring operations are carried out safely and efficiently.
  • Load customer and collection vehicles using mobile plant equipment and ensure the correct documentation and tickets are issued.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors working on site, ensuring all activities are completed in line with site procedures and safety requirements.
  • Manage the day-to-day operational activities of the railhead, maintaining high standards of housekeeping, efficiency and service.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the site, building positive relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
  • Carry out routine inspections, quality checks and operational record keeping to support the smooth running of the facility.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of site performance, identifying opportunities to enhance safety, efficiency and customer service.
  • We're Looking For
  • A self-motivated and proactive individual who can work independently and take ownership of the day-to-day presentation and operation of the site.
  • A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards, with a good understanding of safe working practices.
  • A willingness to embrace Brett values and ways of working, contributing positively to the wider team.
  • Previous experience within the aggregates industry, including the operation of mobile plant, ideally supported by a NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience of rail discharge operations and associated site activities would be advantageous.
  • Good IT and administrative skills, with the ability to accurately complete operational records and documentation.
