Enerveo have an extensive street lighting business that manages over 1 million street lights across the UK and, through design, project management, consultancy, installation, and maintenance, we play a major role in reducing energy consumption and carbon footprints to help towns and cities become smarter, greener and more efficient for everyone.
What will I be doing in this role?
As a Highways/Street Lighting Installation Operative, you will drive a Hi-Ab and install highway lighting units, including streetlights, traffic signs, and other street furniture, ensuring safe and efficient lighting infrastructure to enhance visibility and road safety for drivers and pedestrians.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing lamps, cleaning fixtures, and repairing damaged or malfunctioning lighting components.
- Respond promptly to reported lighting failures or outages and troubleshoot problems to determine the cause of the issue.
- Carry out repairs and replacements of electrical components, including wiring, switches, ballasts, and control systems.
- Collaborate with other team members to coordinate maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to traffic flow and adhering to established safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, materials used, and equipment inventory.
- Operate specialised equipment such as MEWPs and electrical testing devices to access and assess lighting fixtures located at elevated heights.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
What do I need to be successful in the role?
We are looking for you to bring your previous experience working in the electrical/construction industry. We would also love you to have:
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues efficiently.
- Able to use a hand-held tablet to receive jobs and log repair reports.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all maintenance tasks.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and at heights, using appropriate safety equipment.
- The ability to use tools to dig and install streetlighting columns.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with team members and interaction with stakeholders and the public.
- You must have a full UK driving licence.
Nice to Have:
- HGV Class 2 licence
- IPAF or PASMA certification
- G39 Electrical Safety Training
- Experience in public lighting, highways maintenance, or infrastructure works
- Installation of lighting columns and associated groundwork
