Responsible to: Transport Supervisor

Main Tasks and Duties:

  • To work individually on a daily basis, whilst working as part of the larger distribution team, delivering and collecting the company's products throughout the UK in a safe and legal manner.
  • To ensure that all products are delivered to or collected from our customers in a safe and legal manner, ensuring driving and working regulations are followed at all times.
  • To make sure that vehicles are in a fit and roadworthy condition prior to and during the shift.
  • To make sure that the vehicle's load is secure prior to and during the shift.
  • To make sure that vehicle daily check sheets, defect reports, and time sheets are completed and that all paperwork is handed in to the Transport Department in the time required.
  • To ensure that the Digital tachograph is downloaded after each weekly shift.
  • To report vehicle defects straight away to the relevant member of the Transport Department.
  • To complete all delivery and returns paperwork adhering to the procedures in place and company requirements.
  • To communicate any problems through to the Transport Department as and when they happen and highlight any potential problems.
  • To report any Health and Safety issues through to either the Driver Representative or the Transport Supervisor.
  • As an ambassador of the company conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.
  • To assist other staff members as required.
  • To undertake any other work as can be reasonably expected.
  • Regular nights out in line with delivery schedules (3-4 days).
  • Multi-drop deliveries.
  • Class 2 license is mandatory.

Pay: The starting hourly rate is £14.29 per hour inclusive of bonus.

Personal Health & Safety Awareness - General All Employees:

  • Take reasonable care of yourself and others who may be affected by your acts or omissions with regard to Health & Safety.
  • Cooperate with Brett Martin Ltd, in all Health & Safety matters, policies and procedures etc. to enable Brett Martin Ltd to comply with its own Health & Safety duties.
  • Use any machinery, equipment, dangerous substances, transport equipment, means of production or safety device in accordance with Health & Safety training and instruction.
  • Inform Brett Martin Ltd of any work situation which may represent a serious and immediate danger to Health & Safety.
  • Inform Brett Martin Ltd of any shortcomings in the protection arrangements for Health & Safety.
  • Ensure that all safety equipment is used and maintained in the correct way and any issues reported to the Head of Operations.

Housekeeping:

  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the department and vehicle.
  • The workplace must be kept neat and tidy at all times and all waste material or product dealt with, as directed, in a prompt manner inclusive of staff facilities being used.
  • Ensure commitment to and compliance with Company TPM and 5S practices.

Discipline:

  • Ensure that you are aware of and comply with all Company regulations, as contained in the Employee Handbook, Work Instructions and other control documentation.
  • Maintain acceptable standards of behaviour, attendance, time-keeping, etc., as detailed in the Employee Handbook and other control documentation.

Communications:

  • Ensure that communications are maintained at the highest possible level, keeping the senior management team informed of impending situations which could develop into more serious problems.
  • Provide reports as required.
  • Comply with the Company's Team Briefing process.

General:

  • Ensure compliance with the company's Equal Opportunity Policy.
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required.
