As a Trainee Technical Operator, you will receive comprehensive training and support to build your technical skills, learn how to operate advanced production machinery, and contribute to the manufacture of high-quality products supplied to customers around the world.

As a Trainee Technical Operator, you will:

  • Learn to safely set up, operate and monitor advanced production equipment.
  • Work alongside experienced colleagues to develop an understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards and continuous improvement practices.
  • Operate within a structured 12-hour shift pattern, rotating between days and nights, including weekends.
  • Work an average of 40.25 or 46 hours per week, depending on your assigned shift pattern.
  • Benefit from a competitive average hourly rate of £15.64 - £17.41 (inclusive of shift premium, basic hourly rate £13.43).
  • Earn a potential annual salary of up to £37,419.55, inclusive of shift premium.

About The Role:

  • Learn to set up, operate and monitor production machinery and equipment within a busy manufacturing environment.
  • Ensure materials, production processes and finished products meet required quality standards and specifications.
  • Carry out routine quality checks, complete production documentation and report any issues relating to downtime, waste or product quality.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, housekeeping and environmental compliance at all times.
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement activities to develop technical skills and knowledge.
  • Work closely with colleagues and Team Leaders to ensure production targets are achieved efficiently and safely.

Required Criteria:

  • Minimum of 2 years in a technical/mechanical role.
  • Good manual dexterity skills.
  • Proactive in solving technical/process issues.
  • Clear understanding of performance targets.
  • Familiarity with day-to-day activities (housekeeping, H&S, recycling, energy efficiency).

Desired Criteria:

  • Technical qualification in mechanical or production engineering.
  • Familiarity with plastics processing and extrusion experience.
  • Experience in TPM, preferably in a continuous processing environment.
  • Shift work experience (including nights and weekends).
