Brett Martin Academy Apprenticeship Programme: Established in 1958, Brett Martin specialises in the manufacture of plastic building products, rooflights and semi-finished substrates for print and display. A multi-site manufacturing group, Brett Martin supplies material to 74 countries across 5 continents.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, demanding environment and as an apprentice you will have the opportunity to learn and develop the range of skills necessary to become a high quality Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Technician. You will be provided with a structured 4-year training programme of both on-the-job and classroom/factory based instruction leading to BTEC Level 3 in Engineering.
Applicants must be keen to pursue an engineering career and must have 7 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above to include English, Maths and a Science-based subject. We are also particularly interested in hearing from applicants with A Level qualifications (Science or Maths preferred) looking for a practical path to foundation degree level and a career in engineering.
As an essential part of the selection process successful applicants will be required to provide the following information:
- Proof of educational results / qualifications / record of achievement
- Two references (school / employment)
Upon Completion: After the completion of the 4-year training programme, apprentices may have the opportunity to work for Brett Martin as a high quality Electrical/Mechanical maintenance technician.
Duration: It is a 4 Year apprenticeship September 2026 – September 2030.
Day Release: During your apprenticeship you are required to attend the Northern Regional College, Newtownabbey (NRC) as follows:
- Year 1 & 2 – 2 x days a week
- Year 3 – 1 x day a week
- Year 4 – no day release, however you are to attend as and when required
Main Purpose: To provide an engineering resource in a challenging fast-paced manufacturing environment. Assisting maintenance personnel in carrying out planned maintenance, breakdown repairs, refurbishment, improvements and modification or upgrade to plant and services in order to minimize downtime and maintain the equipment in the best possible condition. To carry out all engineering work to high engineering, quality, and safety standards. Adhere to and promote high standards of safety, housekeeping, and cleanliness in the workplace. Participate in safety training and implement safety practices learned. Engage actively in all training modules including Health & Safety in the Workplace. Participate in continuous learning and improvement activities to gain comprehensive knowledge of processes and procedures.
