Job Description
Location: Brett Martin Daylight Systems, Sanford Close, Aldermans Green Industrial Estate
This is a varied and highly practical role where you will take ownership of machinery design from concept through to build, commissioning, and optimisation.
You will design equipment ranging from simple fabrications (machine guarding, conveyors) through to complex process systems (resin mixing, dosing systems, pipework schematics and MHE).
You’ll work closely with our maintenance team to bring designs to life and play a key role in driving innovation across our operations.
You will also take responsibility for managing engineering projects, including capital expenditure planning, budgeting, and delivery within agreed timelines.
About The Role
- Design and develop bespoke machinery and production equipment.
- Produce 2D/3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, and pipework schematics.
- Integrate sensors, instrumentation, and vision systems into production processes.
- Support data integration between shop-floor systems and Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365)
- Work hands-on with the maintenance team to build, test, and commission equipment.
- Collaborate with external design partners on larger-scale or outsourced projects.
- Collaborate with internal production, process and technical departments.
- Ensure all designs meet safety and compliance requirements.
- Troubleshoot, improve, and optimise existing systems.

- Required Criteria
- Proven experience designing industrial machinery or equipment (Minimum 5 years experience)
- Strong mechanical design skills (fabrications, machinery, pipework)
- Experience with CAD software (e. g. Solid Works, Inventor or similar)
- Knowledge of electrical/control system design.
- Ability to work hands-on with technicians and maintenance teams.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding mindset.
- Experience managing engineering projects, including budgets, timelines, and stakeholder coordination
- Desired Criteria
- Experience with machine vision systems or advanced sensors.
- Experience integrating systems with Enterprise Resource Planning
- platforms (e. g. D365)
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as thermoforming, glazing, and mixing/dosing systems.
- Develop and modify PLC programs (Mitsubishi preferred) and HMIs.
- Design electrical systems including control panels and wiring layouts
- PLC programming experience (ideally Mitsubishi or similar platforms)
