Location: Brett Martin Daylight Systems, Sanford Close, Aldermans Green Industrial Estate
Working within your own geographic area the Business Development Manager will drive sales growth of the company’s Modular product range by identifying new business opportunities and building strong relationships with clients in the Merchant, Fenestration and Distribution (MFD) routes to market. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong sales background, exceptional communication skills, and a deep understanding of the rooflight industry. This is a full time external role.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers, partners and distributors.
- Network at industry events, conferences and meetings to identify new opportunities.
- Identify and qualify leads through networking, referrals and online research.
- Use CRM and the company’s other systems to track and manage the sales and ordering process.
- Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals tailored to customer needs.
- Work with customers at customer events such as ‘Trade Days’ etc.
- Negotiate pricing and terms to secure profitable customer relationships.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Product Development and Customer Service teams to align strategies and initiatives.
- Provide feedback to Product Development based on market research and customer input.
- Track business development activities and measure performance against goals and objectives.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management on progress, challenges and opportunities.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention by maintaining ongoing communication and support.
- Address any customer concerns or issues promptly.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies and competitor products.
- Ensure a detailed and time-efficient journey plan to maximise customer interaction and number of targeted daily and weekly calls, upholding agreed call rates.
Qualifications & Skills
- Willing and able to travel with monthly overnight stays required.
- Cold calling is a large part of this role.
- Capable of planning and prioritising work whilst meeting deadlines.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and phone technique, persuasiveness, patience, persistence, and keyboarding skills.
- Must be results-orientated and self-motivated.
- Able to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Good IT skills.
- Full UK driving licence (maximum three points).
- Must reside within territory.
Desired Criteria
- Knowledge of construction products and the merchant industry (specifically rooflights).
- Knowledge of roofing systems including flat roofing technologies.
- Working knowledge of building regulations.
- Experience with Microsoft software systems such as Dynamics and Power BI.
