About The Role

We are currently seeking experienced and skilled Terminal Operators to join our team. As a Terminal Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all equipment at our cementitious products terminal. This includes vessel unloading equipment and control system, tanker loading equipment and control systems, shovel loaders and other mobile plant. You will work closely with your shift supervisors to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the terminal. Dependant on timings of ship imports you will be working on a mixed roster of 9 hour shifts on both days and nights which will also require weekend working on a rotational shift basis when ships are being unloaded.

Main Responsibilities

  • Unloading of import cement ships in a safe & timely manner.
  • Driving shovel loaders to load the silos or hopper from the terminal’s flat stores.
  • Managing tanker loading and loading out of the products from the stores including Weighbridge duties.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all associated onsite equipment.
  • Ensure the quality of all loaded products is maintained at all times.
  • Operation of the site fixed plant and support systems, shovel loaders, MEWP and dock side unloading and loading equipment.
  • Controlling the flat stores extraction systems both air and products.
  • Helping with onsite maintenance and daily plant checks.
  • Housekeeping duties around the terminal to ensure it is maintained to a high level of cleanliness.
  • Adherence to all H&S directives and protocols is essential to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

Education and Qualification Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have experience of equipment operation and be able to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues as they arise.
  • Relevant technical certifications or vocational training in equipment operation and maintenance are preferred.
  • Prior experience in marine and/or vessel unloading environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in mechanical equipment maintenance and upkeep is highly desirable.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
