About The Role
The Buyer is responsible for delivering procurement activities across multiple areas as directed by the Group Head of Procurement. This may include sourcing, negotiating terms, placing of orders, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services to support the business. The role plays a critical part in cost control, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency. The role is reporting in to the Group Head of Procurement.
Responsibilities
- The role will require you to take responsibility for incoming purchasing enquiries across the Group, ensuring timely follow-up
- Negotiate with suppliers on price, lead times and terms
- Place orders with suppliers and expedite deliveries when required to meet stakeholders requirements.
- Raise, monitor and maintain Purchase Orders within the internal systems, including the invoice approval process.
- Handle non-conformance issues, ensuring corrective actions are followed through
- Report on data and ensure internal systems are kept up to date
- Deliver cost savings where applicable and drive value for the business
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and spend rules.
- Actively engage in the full purchasing cycle, from initial supplier enquiries through to order placement and delivery
- Develop relationships with internal stakeholders and work with them to optimise procurement solutions with the support of the Group Head of Procurement
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, acting as a consistent and professional point of contact.
- Contribute ideas and take part in ongoing improvement initiatives within the Procurement function.
We're Looking For
- CIPS Level 3 qualified
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confident communicator who can represent the Procurement effectively across the organisation
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships
- Minimum of 2 years continuous experience in a similar Purchasing/ Procurement role
- Demonstrate a strong analytical thinking and negotiation skills, with a proactive and solution-focused attitude
- Strong numeracy and literacy
