About The Role
Are you an experienced Buyer with experience of delivering procurement activities across multiple businesses? We’re currently looking for someone to join our Procurement team on a full-time, permanent basis in our Canterbury Head office. Some travel will be required across our 60 site locations. As a Buyer, you’ll be responsible for raising purchase orders, managing supplier relationships, negotiating terms, placing orders and ensuring delivery of goods and services are within a timely manner. This is a critical role within the team focusing on risk mitigation, cost control and operational efficiency.
What you’ll do as a Buyer:
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to allow a smooth conversation around negotiations with suppliers on prices, lead times and terms of business.
- Support tender processes, including ITTs/RFQs and evaluations.
- Place orders with suppliers and expedite deliveries.
- Maintain procurement compliance that aligns with company policy and spend rules.
- Raise, monitor, and maintain Purchase Orders within the internal systems and be responsible for any incoming purchasing enquiries.
- Be responsible for reviewing supplier performance to ensure we hold a strong and reliable supply chain.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and overall value.
- Develop and implement a consistent approach with the use of standardised documentation and KPIs.
- Provide regular feedback to internal customers on progress of orders and manage any queries or issues with suppliers.
What we’re looking for:
- Excellent telephone manner and proven experience within a similar purchasing orientated role.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with an understanding for liaising with suppliers.
- Enthusiasm, flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team is essential.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar Purchasing/Procurement role.
- Computer Literacy, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
