Paralegals at Brethertons undertake tasks of moderate complexity to support the Wills, Trusts and Probate team. The overall objective of the role is to ensure that delegated duties are completed and returned to the appropriate team member within a timely manner. You will be expected to follow and comply with all pre‑defined case management procedures, including those specifically relating to the compliance of the SRA, Lexcel and any other regulatory bodies. You will work supporting Solicitors on a daily basis and may need to support others in the wider team from time to time. You will take on instructions from Solicitors and support a variety of high‑number legal cases. Core tasks relating to the role include:

  • liaising with clients and solicitors
  • dealing with new enquiries into the team
  • drafting legal documents such as Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and applications for Grants of Representation
  • progressing estate matters

The ideal candidate will be proactive, hardworking, and a team player. In order to be successful, it is desirable that you have experience as a Paralegal in a Wills, Trusts and Probate department. You must be able to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities. You must be able to demonstrate a good level of technical expertise relating to drafting Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and progress Probate files, but will be comfortable seeking specialist technical advice from the team when it is appropriate to do so.
