About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented FinanceAssistant to join our Matter Accounts team. This is an excellent opportunityfor someone who enjoys working with numbers, building professionalrelationships, and playing a key role in supporting the financial performanceof a busy law firm.
As a Finance Assistant, you will work closely with feeearners, clients and colleagues across the Finance team to manage billing, workin progress, money on account and credit control activities. You will helpensure invoices are raised promptly and accurately, client accounts aremaintained effectively, and outstanding balances are managed professionally.
The role offers a varied workload and the opportunity to develop a strong understanding of legal finance processes. Responsibilitieswill include:
- Preparingand processing client invoices, proformas, credit notes and billingamendments.
- Supportingcredit control activities, including contacting clients regardingoutstanding invoices and monitoring aged debt.
- Workingwith fee earners to review work in progress, client balances,disbursements and billing opportunities.
- Preparingfinancial information and reports for regular matter review meetings.
- Maintainingaccurate financial records, matter notes and audit trails.
- Processingand allocating disbursements to client matters.
- Investigatingbilling and ledger queries and providing support to fee earners.
- Contributingto the firm's financial controls and ensuring compliance with relevantpolicies and procedures.
- Identifyingopportunities to improve processes and enhance the efficiency of billingand matter accounting activities.
This is an important position that supports both excellentclient service and the firm's financial performance. It would suit someone whotakes pride in producing accurate work, enjoys problem solving and is motivatedby delivering a high-quality service to colleagues and clients.
About You
You will have experience in a finance administration,billing, accounts receivable or credit control environment and be comfortableworking with financial information in a fast-paced professional setting.
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, numerateand able to manage competing priorities effectively. You have excellentattention to detail and take a thorough approach to maintaining accuraterecords and resolving queries.
You'll also be a confident communicator, capable of buildingpositive relationships with colleagues and clients whilst handling paymentdiscussions in a professional manner.
Above all, you'll be collaborative, proactive and committedto delivering an excellent service. You'll enjoy working as part of a team whilecontributing positively to the success of the firm.
