We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join our Key Stage One team. The successful candidate will support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development across the school, helping to create a safe, positive and inclusive environment where every child can thrive. You will work closely with teachers to support learning in the classroom, encourage independence and confidence, and help children achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting Pupils

  • Provide support for pupils, including those with additional needs, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and access to learning.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and act as a strong role model with high expectations.
  • Promote inclusion, independence, confidence and self-esteem.
  • Encourage pupils to participate in learning and work positively with others.
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, physical and personal development where needed.
  • Provide feedback to pupils on their progress under the guidance of the teacher.

Supporting Teaching and Learning

  • Help create a purposeful, organised and supportive learning environment.
  • Support teachers in preparing learning activities and classroom resources.
  • Deliver small group or individual learning activities under teacher direction, adapting support to meet pupils’ needs.
  • Monitor pupil progress and share feedback with teachers.
  • Support the development of literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum skills.
  • Support positive behaviour and encourage children to take responsibility for their actions.

Supporting the School Community

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and carers to support pupils.
  • Follow school policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and inclusion.
  • Support supervision during lunchtimes and educational visits where required.
  • Participate in meetings, training and professional development opportunities.
  • Assist with general classroom and administrative tasks to support effective teaching and learning.
