Brentwood School is one of the UK's leading independent co-educational day and boarding schools for boys and girls. Its extensive sports facilities include a 25m swimming pool with separate learner pool, 2 fitness suites, 2 aerobics studios, a 7 badminton court sports hall, 4 squash courts, a functional training gym, 2 AstroTurf pitches and a 6 lane athletics track.
Brentwood School Sports Centre is seeking an Operations Manager to ensure that the Sports Centre and associated areas operate to the statutory standards of operational safety, staffing, cleanliness and effective maintenance.
The working hours for this post are 40 hours per week (to include a daily 1/2 hour lunch break). The work will take place within a rotating pattern of shifts that shall routinely fall within the following hours:
- 5.30 am to 10.30 pm Monday – Friday
- 9.30 am to 8.30 pm on Saturdays
- 8.30 am to 6.30 pm on Sundays
(These shifts, and the scheduling of the lunch breaks, are subject to change according to the needs of the business.)
The successful candidate will have at least three years' industry experience, including two in a supervisory role, with a proven ability to lead, motivate and develop staff. They will demonstrate strong leadership, organisational and communication skills, alongside sound knowledge of Health and Safety and experience producing risk assessments and safe working practices. Experience in staff training, budgeting and financial management is required, with an NPLQ Trainer Assessor qualification desirable.
The role also demands proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with knowledge of Gladstone MRM2 and Google Workspace an advantage. A customer-focused approach, flexibility to work unsociable hours, willingness to wear a uniform, and commitment to integrity and confidentiality are essential.
