The Role

The successful candidate will play a central role in building and maintaining strong, positive relationships between the Club and local communities. The role will develop and lead the Club’s community strategy, including the community outreach programme, and act as the main liaison with Brentford FC Community Sports Trust (BFCCST). The role will ensure alignment between the Club’s wider strategic objectives and its community programmes. The post will work collaboratively with others within the business and closely with BFCCST to deliver the Club’s community strategy, while ensuring the smooth delivery of key projects and charitable initiatives, supporting social causes, and promoting the Club as a good neighbour across all sites. The role will identify and implement innovative ways to engage local and wider communities, helping to grow our fanbase.

Main Accountabilities

  • Support the ongoing development of the Club’s community engagement strategy, including identifying and progressing new opportunities identified by the club’s community committee
  • Ensure all community initiatives reflect the Club’s values and uphold its reputation as a socially responsible organisation
  • Act as a key contact between the Club and BFCCST to identify opportunities for collaboration on shared objectives
  • Support BFCCST’s delivery of community programmes, including helping to coordinate player appearances, marketing support and communication
  • Support the Community Outreach Officer to deliver and develop the club’s community outreach programme, meeting key KPIs and objectives
  • Ensure that fans are aware of the club’s community activities and are encouraged to participate, maximizing impact and supporting wider communication of this work
  • Respond effectively to community-related enquiries, feedback and issues raised by local stakeholders
  • Lead the organisation of community engagement group meetings with local residents and stakeholders around the Gtech, training ground and Wheatsheaf Park stadium
  • Support the delivery of key community elements related to Section 106 planning obligations for stadium and training ground developments
  • Represent the Club at community events, forums and meetings to listen to community needs and concerns
  • Maintain a database of community partners, activities and events and help measure the social impact value of the Club’s community work
  • Support the Head of Sustainability and Community and the Fan & Community Relations team in the delivery of key projects and initiatives as required

  • Ensure compliance with the Club’s Code of Conduct and relevant legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements

  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding the Club and its personnel
  • Maintain a flexible approach to work and support safeguarding processes and policies

Person Specification – Essential Characteristics

  • Proven experience in a leadership role in community relations, outreach, or stakeholder engagement (ideally within sport, non-profit or public sectors)
  • A passion for football and for making a positive social impact
  • Strong interest in community development
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills with experience overseeing multiple initiatives
  • Experience in staff line management and development
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends for meetings or matchdays as required

Person Specification – Desirable Characteristics

  • Good working knowledge of the football industry
  • Knowledge of the Premier League’s community frameworks and social responsibility initiatives
  • Experience with foundations or charities linked to professional sports
  • Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion principles
