The Role of Casual Academy Athletic Development Coach: Brentford FC has an exciting opportunity to join the Academy Sports Science Department in a casual role supporting the athletic development delivery across all development phases. The successful candidate will support the athletic development coaches in the delivery of gym-based and field-based physical sessions as well as assisting with the collection and analysis of GPS and heart rate data for performance monitoring, load management and physical screening processes.
- Assist in the delivery of strength and power based gym-sessions and field-based athletic development for Brentford FC Academy Footballers.
- Assist in the collection and analysis of GPS and heart rate data to inform monitoring and management processes.
- Assist in the collection and analysis of physical monitoring, screening and testing data.
- Work closely with the Athletic Development practitioners across each squad to optimise the players’ physical development.
- Assist in the collection of data for research project(s) into areas of contemporary sport science / strength & conditioning to inform Academy decision-making process in the future in conjunction with PhD studentships.
- Other duties as deemed necessary by the Lead Academy Sport Scientist.
- To ensure that any concerns you observe, or are raised with you in your role, are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels.

Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics:
- Completed/predicted first-class or upper second-class degree in a relevant subject area (e.g., Sports Science or Strength and Conditioning).
- The applicant should be able to demonstrate an interest and understanding of sports science and/or strength and conditioning in elite academy sport.
- The applicant should have a good understanding of the exercise physiology principles of elite sport to enhance players’ performance.
- High level of IT skill, particularly in the use of MS Excel and other relevant data software.
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
- Possess the drive and motivation to set high standards and achieve company objectives.
- Flexible and happy to work evenings and weekends.
