Overview
In this role you will support the Principal and Chief Lawyer within Brent Council’s Financial Litigation Team, handling debt recovery matters and enforcement.
You will collaborate with multiple client departments, manage caseloads, and guide junior staff to improve outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Actively support the management of the department
- Assist the Chief and Principal Lawyer with day-to-day running of the team and supervising junior staff
- Allocate matters to caseworkers based on expertise
- Respond promptly to advice and research requests from client departments
- Request information from client departments and assess case merit
- Take prompt action in the debt recovery process
- Engage in dispute resolution and explore mediation
- Instruct Counsel and costs draftsman as needed
- Manage a caseload of debt recovery matters and defend claims against the council
- Advise client departments and respond to queries on disputed matters
- Use the council’s case management systems efficiently
- Training is available to develop skills
