In this fast-paced role, you’ll work on projects that matter – helping us connect with residents, local businesses, partners and stakeholders through compelling, creative communications.
The role will involve:
- Spotting great stories across the council and turning them into impactful communications.
- Creating engaging content for social media, newsletters, press releases, and our website.
- Filming and editing multimedia content in ways that bring our messages to life.
- Monitoring the council’s Press Office, triaging media enquiries, and providing handling recommendations.
- Supporting events and campaigns, and measuring their impact to ensure we learn from what goes well and what we could improve upon.
- Supporting the team with administrative tasks, such as monitoring summaries, raising purchase orders, and maintaining photo libraries.
- Collaborating with colleagues across the council to ensure our communications are clear, consistent, and effective.

We’re looking for an ambitious communications professional who is excited about delivering excellent local government communications and serving Brent’s communities. The successful candidate will have:
- Strong writing and communication skills, including the ability to build good working relationships.
- Experience in a fast-paced media or communications environment, including giving sound communications advice.
- A good understanding of the social media and digital landscape, and experience of creating impactful visual content for a variety of these channels.
- A proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure.
- A curious, creative and collaborative mindset.
