Category Manager - Housing, Construction
Brent Council is seeking a Category Manager focused on Construction to support a bold transformation agenda. The procurement team is looking for a talented professional to deliver high-quality, value-for-money services that make a difference, working with stakeholders and strategic advisors on major procurement projects and leading end-to-end procurement processes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to work in partnership with stakeholders and key strategic advisors on the delivery of major procurement projects and to lead on complex procurement projects.
What You'll Do
- Lead complex projects, managing multi-disciplined teams to achieve a common outcome and provide guidance and supervision to Procurement Officers assigned to support projects.
- Ensure that the council's procurement processes meet key legislative and policy requirements.
- Ensure all council procurement processes meet the objectives set out in the current Procurement Strategy.
- Take responsibility as directed by the Head of Procurement to act as a Theme Lead to contribute to the successful delivery of one or more of the Procurement Strategy pillar(s).
What We're Looking For
- Strong understanding of public e-tendering and procurement regulations, including a recent working knowledge of The Procurement Act 2023.
- Previous experience in housing, construction or regeneration procurement projects.
- Excellent stakeholder and project management skills.
- Expert knowledge of strategic sourcing tools and techniques.
- A proactive, adaptable approach and a passion for learning.
Base pay range
£59,739 to £63,159 per year
Working pattern
The weekly hybrid working pattern is 3 days in the office (Brent Civic Centre) and 2 days from home.
