An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join a well-established, family-run, fast-growing company within the traffic management and green services sector. This is a key leadership position offering significant scope to make an impact on safety, environmental, and quality performance across a diverse portfolio of operations, with the opportunity to progress quickly.

The Role: As Health and Safety Manager, you will take ownership of the company’s safety, health, environmental, and quality framework, working closely with senior leadership and site teams to promote a culture of continuous improvement and compliance. This position is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence across both infrastructure and green service projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage effective SHEQ policies and procedures across multiple business streams.
  • Carry out regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure legislative and company compliance.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective/preventative actions.
  • Deliver internal training and toolbox talks to support safety awareness and best practice.
  • Advise and collaborate with project and site managers on SHEQ-related issues.
  • Maintain and monitor certification to ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001).
  • Engage with regulatory bodies, clients, and contractors on SHEQ matters.

About You:

  • Demonstrable experience in a SHEQ role within highways, civil engineering, utilities, or environmental services.
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate essential.
  • Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH or higher).
  • Solid knowledge of ISO management systems and industry standards.
  • Understanding of National Highways Sector Schemes and/or Scheme Delivery Framework is advantageous.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proactive, hands-on, and solutions-driven mindset.
  • Experience with Causeway or similar operating systems is a bonus.
