An established and forward-thinking Building Safety Consultancy is seeking experienced professionals to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering expert advice on the Building Safety Act 2022 and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, supporting clients across a wide range of projects within the built environment.
About the Role
You will collaborate with a highly skilled team of building safety specialists to advise clients on regulatory compliance, risk management, and design safety. Acting as Principal Designer under both the Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act, you will guide project teams through complex safety requirements, from design through to completion.
This position offers the chance to work on significant developments across the UK, leveraging your technical expertise to enhance safety, improve standards, and influence best practice within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on the Building Regulations and related legislation.
- Offer informed guidance on the Building Safety Act 2022, ensuring client compliance.
- Confidently undertake the Principal Designer role under CDM and Building Regulations (including HRBs).
- Conduct design risk assessments, identifying hazards such as fire and structural risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Review and assess building plans and documentation for compliance.
- Prepare reports, technical correspondence, and provide professional on-site advice to clients and design teams.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure construction aligns with regulatory standards.
About You
- Degree in Building Surveying, Building Control, or a related discipline.
- Professional membership with CABE, RICS, or an equivalent organisation (Member level).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Building Control or a closely related field.
- Registered Building Inspector (Class 2D–3H) or currently in the process of registration with the Building Safety Regulator (support provided if required).
- Strong understanding of the Building Act, Building Regulations, Fire Safety Act, and associated legislation.
- Excellent communication, report-writing, and stakeholder management skills.
