Building Inspector
Remote
Salary up to £80,000
I’m working with a specialist consultancy that’s growing its team and looking for an experienced Building Inspector to step into a consultancy-led role. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your inspection expertise to guide clients through the new Building Safety Act 2022 and wider building regulations, helping deliver safer, better-quality projects across the UK.
What sets this consultancy apart is their unique blend of people:
- Senior professionals who are still actively leading in local authority building control.
- Project leaders with first-hand experience delivering some of London’s most high-profile developments.
They see the Building Safety Act not just as a regulatory hurdle, but as a vital turning point for the industry. Their mission is to use this framework to embed safety into the heart of construction while also driving broader improvements, from better information management and digitalisation to raising the overall quality of the built environment.
If you’re a Building Inspector looking to broaden your career into advisory and consultancy work while keeping your technical expertise at the core, this could be a brilliant fit.
What you’ll do
- Advise clients on building safety legislation (Building Safety Act, Building Regulations, Fire Safety Act, CDM Regulations).
- Carry out compliance reviews on higher-risk buildings (HRBs) and complex developments.
- Assess design and construction risks (fire safety, structural, etc.) and provide clear, practical advice.
- Review building plans, prepare compliance reports, and support clients in achieving regulatory approval.
- Undertake targeted site inspections where required, ensuring standards are met.
- Work collaboratively with developers, designers, and contractors to deliver safe, compliant outcomes.
What they’re looking for
- Degree in Building Surveying, Building Control, or a related discipline.
- Professional membership (CABE, RICS, or equivalent).
- At least 5 years’ experience in building control or safety compliance.
- Class 2D – Class 3H Registered Building Inspector (or working towards registration, with support available).
- Strong knowledge of building safety legislation, regulations, and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Organised, proactive, and able to work independently in a remote setup.
Why this role?
- Fully remote – flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK.
- A chance to build on your Building Inspector experience in a strategic, consultancy-style role.
- Opportunity to shape how the industry adapts to the biggest regulatory shift in decades.
- Join a team of highly experienced professionals making a real difference.
- Competitive package with career growth opportunities.
