KEY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As a Logistics Team Leader in the Logistics department, you will support the Logistics Manager in the coordination and execution of daily operations, while continuing to perform a hands-on logistics role. Acting as the go-to person for team queries and support, you will help ensure smooth day-today workflow, effective communication, and high operational standards across the department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations & Workflow

  • To take the lead in allocating tasks and workflows ensuring targets are met in line with operational needs.
  • To perform core logistics tasks, including goods-in, outbound shipments, internal transfers and replenishment.
  • Monitor the team’s activities to ensure compliance is up to the operational needs of the department (SOPs) and timelines are being adhered to.
  • To respond to day-to-day queries from team members, escalating issues to the Logistics Manager as necessary.
  • Assist with inquiries from other departments in an efficient and timely manner, this also includes monitoring the logistics inbox and ensuring all emails are answered within a 24-hour period.
  • Complete other tasks relevant to the role as assigned by your Logistics Manager.

Team Support & Development

  • Assist with the onboarding and on-the-job training of new team members, ensuring efficient learning.
  • Maintain and update the team training matrix to ensure efficient cover is in place to complete operational tasks and to improve team versatility.
  • To support in providing constructive feedback to operatives, helping to raise standards and team performance.
  • Act as a point of contact in the absence of the Logistics Manager, ensuring continuity of leadership and task management.

Communication & Process Adherence

  • To monitor and manage the logistics inbox & planner, ensuring all queries are responded within 24 hours and tasks are delegated within the team.
  • Ensure clear communication of task changes, updates, and important process information to the team.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised working environment to uphold operational efficiency.
  • Support minor process improvements and contribute feedback to the Logistics Manager to drive ongoing enhancements.

Inventory and Systems

  • To support inventory accuracy and stock control through auditing performance, scanning and handling movement, and storage of goods.
  • To highlight inventory discrepancies and to contribute with root-cause discussions in collaboration with the Logistics Manager.
  • Ensure the team stays up to date with the ERP/system updates and operating procedures, driving smooth system integration.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Significant experience within a similar level of the role
  • Excellent understanding of domestic and international shipping processes
  • Ability to use Microsoft office – outlook, word and excel at an intermediate level
  • Strong experience of stock management using ERP systems (we use Priority so experience of this system would be an advantage)
  • Excellent organisational skills and has experience in a logistics function.
  • Able to communicate well, both orally and in writing, adapting to a wide range of people.
  • Able to remain calm and focused under pressure.
  • Willing to adapt and take on new challenges and driven to continually improve.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday
  • Onsite working
  • Working as part of a team
  • Probation process 4 months
  • Notice period – 2 months
