We’re recruiting for a Prototype Build Supervisor to join a respected engineering manufacturer based in Leamington Spa, a business recognised for designing and building robust, high-quality vehicles and equipment used across construction and industrial sectors.

The Role
You’ll oversee all prototype and development build activities, leading a small team of technicians while working closely with engineers across design, testing, and manufacturing. This is a practical, workshop-based position where you’ll play a key role in transforming new vehicle concepts into fully functional prototypes.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervise prototype vehicle builds and modifications.
- Coordinate workshop activities, allocate daily tasks, and monitor progress.
- Ensure builds meet engineering, quality, and safety standards.
- Support testing, validation, and sign-off processes.
- Conduct and maintain risk assessments and promote safe working practices.
- Act as the key link between technicians, engineers, and suppliers.
About You
You’ll bring technical know-how, leadership ability, and the confidence to make decisions in a fast-paced development environment.
Essential:
- HNC/D or Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Background in prototype build supervision within automotive, construction, or heavy machinery sectors.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Good understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Strong communicator with a hands-on leadership style.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety standards and workshop compliance.
Desirable:
- Experience with hybrid or electric vehicle prototypes.
- Familiarity with low-volume or specialist manufacturing.
- Exposure to testing, validation, and sign-off processes.
