Description

Have you always had a head for numbers and wanting every day to be different and varied? Do you want to be involved in a construction project right at the start, dealing with all the costs, as well as some of the legal requirements that are associated with contracts? At Breedon we are very ambitious, and you’ll be instrumental in helping us to build a bright and sustainable future by assisting our commercial teams to develop long-term relationships with clients, managing and interpreting their requirements, assisting with tenders, estimates and contracts. All whilst helping to manage the costs relating to projects.

Breedon is a home for inquisitive learners. Quarries, cement, and construction are no longer old-fashioned sectors. We’re providing the foundation for our lives, building the places where we live and work, play and in-between.

Interested in…?

  • Being paid to go to college; earn as you learn, without having to ‘work the time back’. You’ll do 2 years at Coleg Cambria and a further 2 years at University of Wrexham. As part of the programme your first year will be at a Level 4 (Certificate of Education) progressing onto the Level 6 BA (Hons) in Quantity Surveying.
  • Full company funding of any fees for qualifications and training.
  • No need to buy your own kit or any work equipment; it’s all on us.
  • A competitive salary significantly higher than the national minimum wage for apprentices.
  • Support from a community of apprentices; a collaborative and comprehensive induction.
  • A huge variety of potential career progression pathways at a stable, thriving business.

As an Apprentice Estimator, you’ll be involved in everything from estimating, tenders, contracts, commercial reporting and meeting with clients, contractors, and customers. If you’re one to tiptoe around puddles with trepidation, maybe this role isn’t for you. You won’t be spending every day in a clean, corporate office swivelling on an office chair! This role will give you a fantastic opportunity to combine your love of numbers, costs, spreadsheets and being in the thick of it out at a construction site.

Do you offer…?

  • Successful completion of a Foundation Year at Level 3 in a construction related area; or, 48-72 UCAS tariff points, minimum 1 higher A Level, 1 A’ level at A/B or 2 lower‑grade A ‘levels (D–C range) or a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma Equivalent to 48-72 UCAS points.
  • A full UK Driving Licence – during your apprenticeship with us, we want you to experience and see everything we have to offer so you will need to be flexible to travel to other sites.
  • Flexibility with your working hours which may include evenings and weekends.
  • A genuine interest in the construction materials industry – we’d love to hear about why you chose us and what interests you about this role!
  • You will need to be a minimum age of 18 (by July 2026).

In joining us, you won’t be thrown in the deep end or treated like just a number; you’ll work in a close‑knit team, with someone always on hand to offer help.

Why Breedon…?

Here’s what one of our existing employees want to tell you… Jorden, a Mobile Plant Operative based in Longwater, East Anglia. “I didn’t need any previous experience within the field and have been given all the help and support that I need to do well within my role. I had gotten to the age where I no longer wanted just a job but a career, and I really feel that I have found that within Breedon. Now I am working in this industry, I can’t imagine wanting to do anything else.”
