The predicted salary is between 21257 - 21257 £ per year.
Must be over 18 for this role, due to insurance purposes. As an apprentice operative, you'll support quarry and cement site production. You will load trucks with rocks, stone, sand and gravel and drive some large yellow machinery, such as a loading shovel. You will maintain machinery (e.g., loading shovel) by ensuring it is well greased, dust free and reporting any defects. You will help keep the site tidy to maintain safety and protect machinery from damage. If you enjoy the outdoors and all weather conditions, this role may suit you.
Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-start checks of plant and equipment.
- Conduct post-operation checks of plant and equipment.
- Identify and report environmental issues of work undertaken.
- Carry out maintenance activities (planned, preventative, predictive or reactive).
- Use materials, fluids or lubricants required for operation and maintenance.
- Monitor stock levels and end product quality; report issues.
- Carry out and record learning and development activities.
- Comply with health and safety procedures and safe systems of work; follow environmental and sustainability guidelines.
- Lock off and isolate equipment using Lockout, Tag out, Try out (LOTOTO) procedures.
- Follow equality, diversity and inclusion procedures.
- Identify, organise and use resources considering cost, quality, safety, security and environmental impact.
- Communicate verbally with colleagues and stakeholders; record or enter information (paper or electronic) including energy usage, risk assessments, equipment service records, handover documents and manufacturers’ documentation, checklists and waste records.
- Identify and take action when observing unsafe practice; carry out risk assessments; follow handover procedures.
- Operate mobile plant to transport materials identified for production and select/check mobile equipment or attachments.
- Identify and report issues with raw materials (e.g., contamination); process products and operate static plant to produce a manufactured product.
- Complete inspection of raw materials; monitor static plant processing and adjust tolerances; follow emergency stop procedures; calibrate equipment prior to use.
- Conduct pre-start and post-operation checks of plant equipment and identify/report environmental issues of work undertaken.

Wage: £21,257.60 per year. Pension, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays; Life Assurance; Share Saver Scheme; broad learning opportunities and career progression pathways.
Training course: Material processing plant operator (level 2). Hours: 40 per week. Start date: 1 September 2026. Duration: 1 year 6 months.
