As an Apprentice Technician:
- You’ll perform routine laboratory and field testing on materials including soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt
- Ensure testing is carried out in line with industry standards and project specifications
- Prepare test samples and carry out testing to assess strength, composition, durability, and performance of materials
- Record, analyse, and report test results accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintain cleanliness, calibration, and safe operation of testing equipment
- Assist in collecting material samples from construction or quarry sites, often working outdoors
- Support the quality assurance process by identifying non-conforming materials and reporting findings
- Prepare and participate in internal and external audits and inspections from independent accrediting bodies
- Troubleshoot issues with tests, materials, or equipment and recommend corrective actions
- Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
You will attend college both virtually and in person; the choice of college will be dependent on where you live.
