Hope Cement Works is a leading producer of high-quality cement, situated in the Peak District. Our facility operates in a demanding industrial environment, focusing on safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. We are seeking a dedicated LEV Inspection and Maintenance Engineer to join our team, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all employees.

The role involves inspecting, testing, maintaining, and repairing Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems across our cement manufacturing site. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, particularly COSHH, and control airborne contaminants effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • LEV System Inspection & Testing: Conduct statutory examinations and tests per HSG258 and COSHH; perform visual inspections and performance testing; identify defects; produce detailed reports.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, source spare parts, and minimize downtime.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure activities comply with legislation and policies; maintain records; assist audits.
  • Safety & Environment: Promote safety culture, adhere to safety procedures, report hazards, contribute to safety improvements.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Coordinate with teams and contractors; advise on LEV matters.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Essential: P601 qualification; experience with LEV systems in heavy industry; understanding of COSHH and HSG258; mechanical/electrical skills; ability to interpret drawings; UK driving license.
  • Desirable: Engineering apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3; experience with bag filters; knowledge of fan operation; permit-to-work; confined space and working at height qualifications.
