Earn as you learn, combining college study for a Level 3 apprenticeship, with industry experience at the largest independent construction materials group in the UK. As an Apprentice Maintenance Technician, you’ll support the vital need to uphold quarry and cement site production. You’ll dismantle, examine, replace, and reassemble mechanical and electrical systems and components; service and maintain equipment; and work on yellow machinery to equipment that deals with dust, with plenty to learn. You will attend college in either Macclesfield (day release for 3 years) or Rotherham (full-time attendance for the first 10 months). Both programmes offer the same apprenticeship qualifications over the 4 years. The choice of college depends on your residence. You will also complete the electrical wiring regulations qualification – 18th Edition. If you’re someone who enjoys outdoors and practical work, this role may be a good fit. You won’t be spending every day in a clean, corporate office environment.

Responsibilities
  • You’ll be dismantling, examining, replacing, and reassembling mechanical and electrical systems and components.
  • Servicing and maintaining equipment.
  • Working on machinery and equipment associated with dust control and other quarry operations.
Qualifications
  • At least five GCSEs, grades 5-9/A-C, with a 6/B in Maths.
  • A demonstrable interest in engineering – via education and/or work experience.
  • A full UK driving license.
