Ready to lead on planning strategy and guide development from concept to operation? Join our Land & Mineral Resources team as a Planning Manager.
You’ll take ownership of ensuring compliance with existing planning permissions, while playing a central role in identifying, appraising and promoting opportunities‑securing the consents needed to enhance our estate.
You’ll be a confident communicator, able to drive projects forward leading multi‑disciplinary teams at every stage of the development process.
You’ll provide practical, detailed advice both internally and externally, backed by a strong grasp of the plan‑led system and a track record of promoting land for development and securing planning permissions.
This role will be based either at our Head Office in Breedon on the Hill, or our site in Raisby, so candidates should be within a commutable distance from one of these locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on site promotion and local plan consultations.
- Manage the dynamic nature of our estate to ensure compliance with extant planning permissions.
- Collaborate with our colleague's business wide.
Lead and support multi‑disciplinary project teams to deliver high‑quality planning, property, environmental and sustainability advice to internal stakeholders.
- Lead planning strategy for existing and new assets, from appraisal and local plan promotion through to permission and delivery, applying sound judgement and making clear, actionable recommendations.
- Engage proactively within the business, with industry, stakeholders and the community.
Working with communications teams to fully explain and promote our operations and proposals.
- Procure planning and environmental support, manage and instruct technical teams and ensure consistency, including managing and maintaining budgets and reporting progress.
- Ensure compliance with legal, environmental and health & safety obligations across the mineral estate.
- Maximisation of returns on non‑operational property including identifying surplus property for disposal.
- Maintain accurate GIS and estate records to support operational and strategic decision making.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Experienced or interested in land promotion and the plan led system.
- Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or working towards chartership.
- Experience in development, minerals, rural estates, utilities, infrastructure or similar land‑based sectors.
- Confident negotiator with excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects and stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret planning permissions, legal documents, plans and technical information.
- Proactive, organised and confident working independently across multiple sites.
