We are looking for a reliable and motivated Surfacing Operative to join our surfacing team. In this hands-on role, you will support the delivery of road surfacing and highway maintenance projects, working as part of a skilled crew to lay and finish asphalt safely and efficiently. This role involves working outdoors, travelling to sites, and operating as part of a team to ensure work is completed to a high standard of quality and safety. Nightshift working is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the laying, raking, levelling, and finishing of asphalt materials
- Support the operation of surfacing plant, tools, and equipment
- Carry out site preparation and general labouring duties before, during, and after surfacing works
- Work closely with the Foreperson and wider surfacing squad to complete projects safely and efficiently
- Conduct routine checks and basic maintenance of plant, equipment, and PPE
- Follow site instructions, safe systems of work, and company procedures at all times
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Report any safety concerns, incidents, defects, or near misses promptly
- Work flexibly across different sites and shifts, including night work where required

- CSCS card
- Full UK driving licence
