We are currently seeking a Maintenance Operator to join our maintenance team at Hope Cement Works, Derbyshire.
The maintenance team plays a key role in daily operations and major plant shutdowns, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our site.

Our plant is the largest cement manufacturer in the UK, producing around 1.5 million tonnes of cement annually.
With a proud history dating back to 1929, the plant employs over 200 skilled professionals and uses local materials to drive sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute the Predictive Lubrication Strategy: perform precise lubrication application and condition monitoring on all plant equipment.
- Data Integrity & CMMS: accurately record and manage all lubrication activities, oil analysis data, and fluid consumption within Maximo.
- Advanced Oil Analysis: conduct precise fluid sampling for external oil analysis, manage sample dispatch and interpret results to identify potential equipment failures early.
- Maintain Lubrication Systems: proactively service, maintain, and troubleshoot all auto lubrication systems, grease lines, and centralised lubrication plants.
- Storage & Stock: ensure the highest standard of contamination control and good housekeeping within lubrication systems and storage areas.
- Supplier & Development: liaise with the reliability team to determine future requirements, coordinate deliveries, and develop improvement plans with industry application engineers.
- Compliance & Standards: ensure compliance to standards, use and maintain COSHH assessments, and actively engage with the COSHH database.
- Safety & Environment: actively take responsibility for your safety and the safety of others, use and maintain risk assessments/method statements, complete dynamic STOP point‑of‑work assessments, raise safety observations and act to resolve when possible, participate and engage in toolbox talks, and ensure compliance with environmental standards and waste duty of care.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a heavy industry setting.
- Demonstrated ability in semi‑skilled maintenance tasks.
- Familiarity with lubrication systems, plant operations, and general maintenance procedures.
- Basic IT proficiency, including working knowledge of Maximo, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and handheld technology.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Recommended Qualifications & Training
- Lubrication: BINDT Lubrication level 1, ICML certification (e. g., MLT I) or similar.
- Licences/Tickets: Licence for FLT (Forklift Truck) & MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform).
- Safety & Environment: trained in overhead crane/slinging & rigging, IOSH Working Safely, environmental awareness training, waste duty of care training, duty of care controlled waste and hazardous waste paperwork completion, COSHH, face fit, manual handling training, RAMS / STOP, LOTOTO.
