The role is based circa 3 days a week from our offices in Derbyshire (Breedon on the Hill & Lockington), therefore applicants must reside within commutable distance of here. The Head of Accounts Payable is responsible for leading and optimising the centralised end‑to‑end accounts payable function across the UK and Ireland. This role ensures timely, accurate and compliant processing of supplier payments while driving continuous improvement, strong controls, and excellent stakeholder and supplier relationships in a FTSE 250, regulated environment. The role provides strategic leadership to a team of 28 (FTE), partners closely with Procurement, Tax, Treasury, Credit and Financial Control, playing a key role in cash management, governance, and transformation initiatives.

You will bring proven management experience within a fast‑paced and pressurised Accounts Payable environment, be highly self‑directed, and confident in leading transformational change. You will be motivated by driving team performance against targets, while maintaining a strong focus on supporting internal stakeholders and collaborating with the wider business to resolve issues effectively. You will have a keen eye for identifying process improvement opportunities, alongside the ability to influence stakeholders and embed sustainable ways of working. As a compassionate and inspiring leader, you will champion both individual and departmental development, fostering a high‑performing and engaged team culture.
Qualifications & Experience
- Significant senior‑level experience leading Accounts Payable within a large, complex organisation (FTSE, PLC, or equivalent)
- Proven leadership of large teams, including remote or shared service models
- Strong understanding of P2P processes, financial controls, and audit requirements
- Working knowledge of incorporating CIS or RCT deductions into the P2P cycle
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong analytical mindset with a focus on process improvement and risk mitigation
