We’re excited to be recruiting for a new senior technical role within our technical team supporting the asphalt surfacing business across the South, offering you the chance to shape how we support our operations and drive performance across the network.

Key Responsibilities
- Undertake gap analysis to identify and shape the technical resource required to support the business.
- Take ownership of FPC control systems—monitoring performance, identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Review KPIs regularly to ensure targets are achieved, identifying and driving corrective actions where needed.
- Work closely with local teams to identify opportunities to reduce costs and enhance product value.
- Investigate and escalate internal material and product issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Provide technical advice, guidance and training to sales and production teams.
- Interpret incoming specifications and ensure all testing requirements and frequencies are met.
- Support internal and external audits, maintaining strong quality standards.
- Troubleshoot issues, manage complaints and deliver practical, customer-focused solutions.
Skills, Knowledge Expertise
You will be familiar with SHW, BS EN, ISO 17025 and other relevant standards. It is essential that you have extensive experience in a technical capacity for asphalt and aggregates, which will include the use of quality management and FPC systems. You will bring excellent interpersonal, strong team ethics and strong goal orientation skills with a flexible attitude and be open to change. You will have experience in managing and resolving major complaints and customer issues. You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to put forward strong, rational arguments, and are able to demonstrate a rational decision-making process whilst under pressure. You’ll be logically minded and possess excellent organisational skills and be confident dealing directly with internal and external customers on both a formal and informal level. You will also have excellent numerical skills and the ability to work under pressure. You will be educated to degree level in a civil engineering, construction management or other building material related subject.
