Key Responsibilities

As a Trainee Surfacing Operative, you’ll support the vital need to be involved in the surfacing, resurfacing and improvement of vast stretches of roads and the highway network. You will help with the removal of old roads and surfaces, preparing for the new surface, complete inspections, and testing of the new surfaces. You will learn how to operate a wide range of specialist plant machinery such as rollers and spreaders.

If you’re one to tiptoe around puddles with trepidation, maybe this role isn’t for you. You won’t be spending every day in a clean, corporate office swivelling on an office chair! If you have a natural affinity with the great outdoors, in all weathers, then now we’re talking!

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • CSCS card and driving license would be preferred, but not essential as full training will be provided.
  • An interest in working in the great outdoors.
  • Someone who wants to get stuck in and work as part of a team.
  • You will need to be a minimum age of 18.
