\nPosition Overview:\n
\n We are seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join our team at Daviot Quarry. You’ll be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving mechanical systems, machinery and production equipment to ensure maximum reliability and efficiency. You will conduct routine maintenance, diagnosing mechanical faults, and implementing preventative and corrective maintenance programs to minimise downtime and optimise performance.\n

\nKey Responsibilities\n
\n
\n* Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical equipment, machinery, and systems\n
\n* Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical defects\n
\n* Replace or repair worn or defective components such as bearings, shafts, pumps, and valves\n
\n* Carry out emergency breakdown repairs promptly to minimise production loss\n
\n* Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce unplanned downtime\n
\n* Monitor equipment performance and use predictive maintenance techniques\n
\n* Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment history\n
\n* Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment\n
\n* Ensure mechanical systems are installed according to manufacturer specifications and safety regulations\n
\n* Support mechanical maintenance projects and continuous improvement initiatives\n
\n* Work closely with production and electricians to ensure smooth plant operations\n
\n* Follow all company health, safety, and environmental policies and ensure compliance with legal and industry standards\n
\n* Conduct risk assessments and implement safe working practices\n
\n* Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly\n
\n* Provide technical support and training to operators and junior maintenance colleagues\n
\n* Communicate effectively with supervisors and management regarding equipment.\n
\n
\nSkills, Knowledge and Expertise\n
\n
\n* ONC / HNC / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.\n
\n* Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within the construction industry\n
\n* Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating machinery\n
\n* Full UK driving licence\n
\n* NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Health and Safety and/or NEBOSH qualification is advantageous\n
\n* Excellent mechanical and diagnostic skills\n
\n* Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability\n
\n* Good communication and teamwork skills\n
\n* Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.\n
