Role Purpose
This role is split approximately 50% Certification and 50% Testing, providing support across both functions.
The postholder will be responsible for coordinating and delivering certification projects from inception to completion, whilst also managing and supporting laboratory testing projects.
Working closely with Certification Engineers and Testing Engineers, the role combines project management, technical analysis, client liaison, compliance activities and hands‑on testing support to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Certification Activities (50%)
- Coordinate and manage all phases of certification and certification maintenance projects from initiation through to completion.
- Monitor project progress and ensure successful delivery against agreed timescales and requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to clients and internal colleagues on certification requirements and processes.
- Coordinate testing and certification activities required to support product approvals.
- Maintain detailed certification records and document control systems.
- Prepare reports and communicate certification status updates to clients, management and certification bodies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations and certification schemes, remaining up to date with changes and developments.
- Respond to customer enquiries and direct requests to the appropriate teams where necessary.
- Liaise with clients, certification bodies, laboratories and internal stakeholders to ensure the smooth delivery of certification projects.
- Support internal and external audits relating to certification activities.
- Testing Activities (50%)
- Manage testing projects from initial client enquiry through to delivery of final reports.
- Review client requirements, design specifications and relevant standards to develop testing proposals and project scopes.
- Monitor, analyse and interpret test data, observations and measurements to ensure accuracy, reliability and quality.
- Prepare technical reports, proposals and supporting documentation for clients.
- Ensure all testing activities are delivered in accordance with applicable standards, UKAS‑accredited procedures and company quality systems.
- Manage project budgets, resources and schedules to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.
- Contribute to the growth and development of the testing and consultancy services offered by the business.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Knowledge & Experience
- Understanding of engineering testing, certification, compliance, or product approval processes.
- Experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to interpret technical standards, specifications and regulations.
- Experience preparing technical reports and documentation.
- Strong project coordination and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and client‑facing skills.

- Work Location Options
Hybrid – This role offers a mix of home and office working.
You will need to be within commuting distance of our Watford office, as you will be expected to attend in person (3 times per week).
