What you’ll be doing:
- You will take ownership of BRE’s SHE management system, ensuring it is effective, compliant and driving real impact.
- Leading SHE audits, inspections and assurance activity across the organisation.
- Ensuring compliance with UK legislation, internal standards and certification requirements.
- Overseeing incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Managing SHE risk, performance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supporting internal and external audits and maintaining audit readiness.
- Driving a positive safety culture through leadership, communication and training.
- Working closely with senior leaders to embed SHE into business processes.
- Line management of SHE team member(s) and oversight of SHE budget and KPIs.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for a confident, experienced SHE professional who can balance technical expertise with strong leadership and influence.
You Will Bring:
- Experience in a SHE Manager / HSE / SHEQ / EHS leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and regulatory compliance.
- Hands‑on experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- A track record in audits, inspections, incident investigation and assurance.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and lead culture change.
- Strong analytical skills, including use of SHE data and KPI reporting.
- Experience operating in regulated or operational environments (e.g. built environment, engineering, manufacturing or similar).
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and IOSH membership (GradIOSH/CMIOSH preferred).
Location and working pattern:
This role is based at the BRE Science Park in Watford, with an expectation to work on site 3–4 days per week (flexi-hybrid).
