Summary and overview of the role
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Junior Commercial & Procurement Officer will support the delivery of compliant, value driven procurement and commercial activity across the CORE businesses.
The role is to assist with tendering, supplier engagement, contract administration, costing and quote preparation and commercial governance, with growing exposure to commercial risk awareness and reporting.
The role will also provide MCIPS training and accreditation.
Minimum Essential Qualifications/ Experience and Role Requirements
- GCSE/A-Levels or CIPS Level 3
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Share Point, 365, Word, Excel) Interest in procurement, commercial management or supply chain
- Able to obtain and maintain a minimum BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) security clearance
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Professional and confidentiality
- Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
- Team-oriented, contributing positively to shared team and company goals.
- Takes ownership of allocated tasks and works proactively to meet deadlines.
Duties, Skills and Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing, issuing and evaluating tenders, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant
- Assists with liaison between commercial and other departments (e. g. engineering, project team, maintenance etc.) to support accurate and consistent bid submissions.
- Help monitor supplier performance, maintaining supplier records and support supplier onboarding processes.
- Maintain contract registers, tracking key contract dates and support contract drafting and variations.
- Ensure procurement activity aligns with organisational policies, audit requirements and industry regulations.
- Support attendance at industry events, exhibitions, and customer or supplier meetings, as opportunities arise, to build sector knowledge and professional networks
- Support the preparation of costings and quotations for client enquiries, ensuring accuracy and timely turnaround.
Ensure that costings and quotations align with the agreed scope of work before submission.
- Assist with the use of tender and procurement platforms, such as CTM, Contracts Finder and Mercell, under supervision.
- Support maintenance of the Approved Supplier List, in line with Quality Management requirements.
- Assists in identifying risk mitigation options for enquiries or projects, under guidance from senior commercial and project team.
- Support tracking of key contractual obligations and milestones within the contract register.
- Participate in post-bid reviews, capturing lessons learned to inform future submissions.
- Carry out and record Continual Professional Development (CPD), in support of MCIPS training and accreditation.
