Are you looking for a rewarding role supporting children and young people to thrive? We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Youth Mental Health Practitioner to join our team across the Bradford District.

The successful practitioner must be well-organised and flexible, committed to providing effective therapeutic support to children, young people, and their families—empowering them to make a difference in their lives, underpinned by Brathay’s core values.

As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing emotional health and wellbeing support across Bradford, conducting clinical assessments, and signposting to specialist support services.

To excel in this role, you’ll have:

  • Education and Qualifications:
  • Level 4 diploma in Counselling (essential) and current registration with BACP
  • A postgraduate or professional qualification as a children’s workforce practitioner (e.g., qualified teacher, youth worker, social worker, occupational therapist, healthcare practitioner, or counsellor)
  • A current and clean driving licence for vehicle insurance purposes; ideally, you should be at least 21 years old and have held a full, driving licence for at least one year
  • Level 5 diploma in Counselling (desirable)
  • Safeguarding Level 3 (or willingness to undertake)
  • Skills and Experience:
    • Substantial experience working with children and young people with mental health needs in various contexts
    • At least 2 years managing a caseload using clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions, liaising with families and referring agencies
    • At least 2 years providing therapeutic interventions, either one-to-one or group work
    • Proven ability to act as an advocate, facilitating the views and choices of children, young people, families, and communities
