As our Marketing Lead, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering Hawthorn’s marketing activity, translating business priorities into impactful campaigns, content and initiatives that strengthen brand awareness, engagement and growth, with a heavy focus on digital channels. Working closely with Partners, the Head of Digital and other senior stakeholders, you will act as an internal marketing adviser, helping to refine ideas, identify opportunities and develop integrated marketing approaches that support business objectives. You will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking broad objectives or early‑stage concepts and turning them into clear, actionable plans that deliver measurable results.
The role spans the full marketing lifecycle, from planning and campaign development through to content creation, events, thought leadership and performance evaluation. Combining strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery, you will lead activity from concept to execution, collaborating with specialist colleagues where required while maintaining responsibility ownership of outcomes. Alongside supporting Hawthorn’s own growth ambitions, you will also contribute marketing insight and expertise to client‑facing opportunities, helping to develop creative and effective approaches that deliver value for clients. This is a unique opportunity which allows you to play the role both of in‑house marketing lead, as well as experience agency life by serving as a consultant to our clients who have marketing and digital comms briefs.
Key Responsibilities across Clients and Hawthorn- Lead the development and execution of Hawthorn’s strategic marketing activity, including creation of the annual marketing plan and calendar.
- Develop and implement flagship multi‑channel campaigns for Hawthorn, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment across all marketing channels with paid social, paid search and display ad components.
- Partner with senior colleagues to develop marketing ideas and objectives, translating strategic discussions into clear, actionable campaign plans and delivering activity with minimal supervision.
- Monitor and interpret analytics (reach, engagement, retention, conversions) to evaluate marketing effectiveness and inform future campaigns.
- Identify relevant industry awards (e.g. Campaign, PR Week, PRCA) and manage the end‑to‑end submission process in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Support the planning, development, and promotion of events within the marketing calendar, working closely with internal teams.
- Manage event logistics, ensuring delivery to a high standard, and conduct post‑event ROI analysis to measure effectiveness and inform future activity.
- Develop creative briefs and oversee the production of key marketing assets, including brand video content ensuring creative outputs are audience‑relevant, aligned with campaign objectives and measurable.
- Review, update, and create marketing collateral to reflect current positioning and support emerging business areas.
- Identify and drive opportunities for thought leadership, supporting individuals in developing content that enhances brand visibility and authority.
- Deliver ad‑hoc marketing projects as required, including website updates, LinkedIn activity, and project or client‑specific initiatives.
- Act as a central marketing resource to the business, ensuring alignment between strategic objectives and executional delivery.
- Actively support the Management Board and participate in committees or working groups.
- Support diversity and inclusion initiatives, ensuring equitable treatment and a positive work environment.
- Stay up to date with evolving digital and marketing trends, platform updates, and user behaviours to inform strategy and execution.
Proven experience (5 years +) in a strategic and hands‑on digital marketing role, ideally within professional services or a similar environment. Demonstrated ability to take high‑level strategic direction and independently develop and deliver marketing plans, campaigns and content that achieve agreed objectives. Strong experience in developing and executing integrated marketing plans and campaigns. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams, balancing long‑term strategic projects with ad‑hoc delivery. Experience in award submission processes and coordinating input from multiple stakeholders. Demonstrated expertise in social media platforms, content formats, and distribution strategies (paid and organic). Strong project management skills, with experience delivering events and marketing initiatives end‑to‑end. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling marketing content. Experience developing marketing collateral and working on brand and creative projects (e.g., video, graphics, social cards) and repurposing content for different platforms. Commercially aware, with the ability to assess ROI and effectiveness of marketing activity. Proactive, highly organised, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage and influence at all levels. Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities. Familiarity with digital trends, platform updates, and audience behaviour insights.
