The HSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and continually improving the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems in alignment with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and company strategic objectives across all Group sites. This role plays a key part in supporting our global team to ensure safe operations across onshore and offshore environments, ensuring compliance in a high-risk, technology-driven industry that supports subsea, offshore energy, and environmental service markets.
Principal Accountabilities – HSE Leadership
- Lead the development and delivery of the company’s HSE strategy, policies, and objectives.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to enhance HSE culture across global operations.
- Promote proactive risk management and continuous improvement in all HSE matters.
- Lead and actively promote HSE initiatives, ensuring consistent engagement and adoption across the organisation.
- Support and mentor STR “HSE Representatives”.
Compliance & Regulatory Management
- Ensure compliance with all relevant UK, EU, and international HSE regulations (ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Monitor regulatory changes and provide guidance on necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.
- Manage and support external audits, certifications, and inspections.
- Lead risk assessments, HAZID/HAZOP studies, and operational safety reviews.
- Oversee incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain and report on HSE metrics, trends, and performance indicators.
Operational Support
- Support offshore personnel, engineering teams, and workshop operations to ensure safe work practices.
- Manage site inspections, advise and support on toolbox talks, and lead HSE training sessions.
- Ensure safe and compliant operation of equipment rental and service activities, including mobilisation and demobilisation.
Training & Competence
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees and contractors.
- Manage mandatory safety certifications and competency programmes.
- Foster strong safety awareness and engagement across the global team.
Environmental
- Oversee environmental risk assessments, waste management, spill prevention, and sustainability initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and customer requirements.
- Support continuous improvement of environmental performance across operations.
- Implement waste reduction, resource efficiency, and sustainability initiatives in alignment with the company’s ESG policy and strategic objectives.
- Prepare environmental reports and maintain effective communication with regulatory bodies, ensuring timely submissions and proactive management of compliance requirements.
Documentation & Systems
- Develop, maintain, and control HSE documentation including policies, procedures, safe systems of work, and emergency response plans.
- Administer and enhance the company’s HSE management system, ensuring alignment with ISO and industry standards.
