As a CAD Technician, you will be required to work independently, creating detailed and accurate technical drawings and models for various civil engineering projects in the fields of bridges, civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering.
You will work closely with engineers and project managers to ensure that designs are effectively translated into CAD drawings, adhering to project specifications and industry standards.
- Produce high-quality 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models for various civil engineering projects.
- Work collaboratively with engineers and project teams to ensure drawings accurately reflect design requirements.
- Modify and update drawings as required, incorporating changes and feedback from the design team.
- Maintain organised records of CAD files, ensuring that all documents are stored and controlled according to company procedures.
- Carry out administrative functions as required by the Senior Technician.
- Work to project timelines, budgets, and communication with Project Managers
Person Specification
Education
Diploma or certification in CAD Design, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Evidence of Continuous Professional Development progress towards Incorporated or Engineering Technician status.
Skills
- Proficient in using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Revit.
- Good understanding of civil engineering design principles.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Experience
- Typically, 3-5 years of experience as a CAD Technician in a civil engineering consultancy or related field.
- Awareness of BIM standards and ISO 19650 workflows.
- Familiarity with databases, cloud-based collaboration platforms (e.g., BIM 360/ProjectWise).
