Location: London (home and office based)
About the role
We want everyone affected by breast cancer to get the right support, at the right time, in the right way. Support for everyone, anytime, anywhere.
We’re the UK’s leading breast cancer charity. More and more of what we do happens digitally, and people who need us don’t always find us, or find us later than they should. What they find has to join up, whichever way they came in.
We’re building a user experience team from scratch. You’d be one of its first three people, alongside a UX designer and a user researcher, all reporting to our Head of UX. We’ve used agencies for service design before, and the understanding left when they did. This role exists so that it stays here.
Owning your part of it
You’d own the journeys: the person who knows how our products and services work end to end, front stage and back stage. You’ll build a point of view with evidence behind it, speak for the experience in the rooms where decisions are shaped, keep what we know where others can find it, and champion the people we don’t yet reach.
About you
You don’t need to have done all this before, and we don’t expect anyone to be excellent at everything.
- Experience designing services end to end in a multidisciplinary team, across digital and non-digital touchpoints
- Journey mapping, blueprinting and co-design that changed what an organisation did.
- A practical commitment to accessibility and inclusive design
- Building understanding that outlasts you, including with agencies and suppliers
- Hands-on research experience, comfort with numbers, and changing your mind when the evidence points elsewhere
- Interrogating briefs, running your own work, holding a room and writing clearly for non-designers
- Arguing the user’s case to senior people with evidence, then committing to what’s decided
Conversational or AI-assisted experiences, health or support contexts, peer or volunteer-led services, the charity sector, and tools such as Figma, Miro and Lyssna.
If you meet most of the essential criteria and this work speaks to you, we’d really like to hear from you.
