Location: Hybrid working – at least one day a week in the London office (E14) and part home working.

Salary: £56,875 per annum.

Hours: 35 hours per week.

About Breakthrough T1D: Breakthrough T1D is the UK’s leading type 1 diabetes charity, dedicated to funding research, advocating for change, and supporting the T1D community. We seek an experienced and dynamic Head of Finance to ensure the finance function is fit for purpose to deliver our 10‑year strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Director of Finance & IT, you will lead the day‑to‑day management of the finance function.
  • Key duties include monthly financial reporting, quarterly reforecasts, annual budget coordination, partnering with senior stakeholders, leading the annual accounts and external audit, and managing a team of 3 (2.2 FTE) to deliver robust financial control and charity reporting.

Experience Required:

  • CCAB qualified financial professional (or finalist).
  • Experience as a senior finance professional in a charity with fundraised income £1m or more.
  • Strong business‑partnering skills with senior operational leaders.
  • Strong financial reporting, controls and systems confidence.
  • Ability to work both strategically and hands‑on.
  • Familiarity with charity SORP.
  • Strong people‑management and leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate a team.
  • Excellent accounting, analytical, and communication skills, with a pragmatic and solution‑focused approach.
